Hi all,

I recently got an IBM 5170 which turned out to have an Intel Inboard 386/AT board in it.
Unfortunately, the BIOS and the hard disk of this computer were cleared so that it isn't configured properly anymore.

I found fragments of drivers for the Inboard here in the forum and the drivers detect the card (obviously the cart runs partially since it has the CPU).
However, the drivers complain about no extended memory found in the system.
And if I run mem in DOS, it gives me only 512k of RAM.

I tried to configure the extended memory in BIOS but any value I tried (card should have 1MB) gets a parity error (2) at address 0x1000000.
I guess this means that the PC does not find any extended memory at all.

The Intel board has 1x8 DIP-switches 1x4 DIP-switches and one jumper as well (please see images).

Unfortunately, there is no documentation out there or any other useful information about the Intel Inboard 386/AT.
I noticed that the connectors of the board and the optical appearance is similar to some of Intel's above boards.
Maybe the 8-DIP Switches have the same function like on this cards?

I checked the stuff of the Intel Inboard 386/PC but this seems to be totally different since it is for XT computers and not ATs.

Is there anybody who has the same/similar card and maybe has more info, documentation, driver or anything?

Thanks in advance!

Is the software that you have the same as what is at [here (http://minuszerodegrees.net/manuals.htm#Intel)] ?

Are you positive the RAM is good?

Hi,

thanks for your feedback.

I found the instructions here: https://web.archive.org/web/199801281519…board/howto.htm
Drivers here: http://minuszerodegrees.net/manuals.htm#Intel

After setting the DIP-Switches correctly and refitting (and flipping) the memory everything works just fine.

Anyone an Idea were I could get a memory board for that card?

Thanks. I have added that document to [here (http://minuszerodegrees.net/manuals.htm#Intel)].
