Hahahahahaha!!! It's not even the pair of BIOS chips needed, it's just the one. And then he charges for shipping? At that price you'd think there would be free shipping.

I almost wonder if it a money laundering operation.

So, according to Marshall McLuhan, is the medium the message? Certainly the content of this ROM is available and there are still Moto MC68765 24-pin EPROMs available for duplication. So what is most important? Having the ROM or the content?

Somewhat akin to differentiating software by the brand of floppy it's recorded on...

Well in either event, there is a serious short fall her. The chip itself is not rare at all, so not worth more than a few bucks. So then you think it must be the contents, expect that in an IBM 5150 only half the BIOS is on each chip, IIRC the odd bits are on one and the even on the other. Therefore the contents are useless and IMO worthless.

So yeah, this seller is either doing something very shady or is completed deluded.

On the 5150 the bios is on one chip U33, I agree though worth no more than a few $, For that price i'd want the complete machine in super original condition and boxed

Yup, just the one chip. The other chips in the ROM row of the 5150 are for BASIC.

FWIW my 5700051 chip has got a gold top on it. It was from a very early model. Were both styles used?
