View Full Version : Everex EV1601 (PWA-00267) Settings

Anyone have the jumper and dip settings for the Everex EV1601 motherboard? Google is coming up dry and I am trying to work out what RAM I can install on the board to max it out. So far it does not seem to like the 4264-12 or the 4164-15 chips I am trying, though it does like the 41256-12 chips I have, but this then maxes out at 640Kb (even though there is 1Mb on board).

Is that an 8088 board?

If it's an 8088 my guess is that 640Kb is the max you can install and you can only use 256Kb chips in banks 0 and 1 and 64Kb chips in banks 2 and 3.

It is an 8088 board. The 41256 chips work fine in banks 0 and 1 and it recognizes 512Kb. But it will not recognize the 4164 or 4264 chips in banks 2 and 3, however if I put 41256 chips in bank 2 then it will count up to 640kb. I think this is a settings issue, but I cannot for the life of me find any information on what the dip switches do.

You don't really need to do anything since you're not going to get more than 640Kb out of it anyway.

Its first cousin, the 1600 only gets 640Kb.

640 is what I am aiming at. Are you not reading my posts?

The board is ignoring the 4164 chips I am putting in banks 2 and 3 and not getting me over 512kb from the 41256 chips in banks 0 and 1 (256 + 256 + 64 + 64 = 640, but it's only showing 512 at post). It only hits 640 when I put 41256 chips in bank 2 (256 + 256 + 256 + 0 = 768, but only showing 640 at post). I don't want to waste the 41256 chips and prefer to get it to use the 4164 chips. I suspect that there is a dip and/or jumper setting for this, hence my request for info or manuals or something for this board.

640Kb is what you already got.

If you meant waste it's not a waste if it gives you what you are trying to achieve. It's called a success! :-)

It is a waste since the chips have a better use elsewhere, plus I have the 4164 chips which SHOULD work and would be a better fit.
