I have that beat:

I brought this up to the Vintage Computer Show (Midwest) at the last minute, but I'm not certain that anyone actually believed it was real. The ESP8266 (ESP-12E) is a package with two chips, and it uses a 64K SPI chip for the RAM. There is a Maxim-type level shifter for RS-232, and, of course, it does wireless. Since I published that, it now also has over-the-air firmware updates and an FTP server for backing up/uploading new disk images. It also runs several flavors of Altair Basic including Disk Basic. I hacked that code together, partly from other people's projects.

I'm working on a similar toy now that emulates an 8008 and runs SCELBAL. That runs on the (now obsolete) ESP-01, and does not require an external RAM chip. You can get one of those for about two or three dollars. I wrote the emulator part of it, so I'm not quite as embarrassed about the code :)
