It would be be very usefull (not only for me of course) to make some IBM PC hardware database from VCF members. Many times i need to compare different pieces of some IBM hardware, and there are often a variety of interesting differences.
Its wrong idea?

What information would you want to put into this database? I also occasionally need to answer questions like "what proportion of extant PCs and XTs have property X?" but I don't know what the Xs are for the questions I will need the answers to in the future, so there's no way to populate the database in advance of these questions arising. The best way seems to be to just to create a new thread each time and say "Could PC/XT owners please try running this program on their machines and let me know the results? Thanks!". But perhaps the kinds of questions you have would be more amenable to this idea.

This would take a ton of effort for not very much benefit, but if you want to start such a project, you could stand up a wiki somewhere and start populating it. When it's as finished as you can make it, announce it to the rest of the community, and see if others can contribute the missing bits.
