View Full Version : Poly 88 Keyboard question

I am curious - did Polymorphic supply a specific keyboard with their Poly 88 machines when ordered? I have been trying to figure out whose keyboard it was. I've seen Jameco, Cherry, etc on several Polys I've looked at online.

One fully loaded configuration of the Poly-88 included a keyboard, but there wasn’t really a “standard” keyboard in the beginning for the Poly-88. With the introduction of the Poly-8813, they included a Polymorphic branded parallel keyboard. This keyboard could be used on the Poly-88 as well.

There were several different keyboard option connector cables. The older ones had a place for a zener diode for those keyboards that needed a negative voltage. Some need -12V and others needed -5V. The keyboard I used on my Poly88 was a Cherry with magnetic reed switches. On my Ploy8813/2 I use a modified Franklin keyboard. The Poly code needed a ^@ so I modified the lookup table on the keyboard to have that as part of its functions that the Franklin didn't use.
