Hello- just wondered what software any of you would recommend for backing up a 527mb hard drive. I wanted to back it up as a disk image and store it on a CD .:lookroun:

I'm using Ghost 2003 which is installed on floppy disk to clone a 1GB hdd. Go to the website and download the file which will create the floppy disk for you. http://vetusware.com/download/Norton%20Ghost%202003/?id=215

The floppy disk will be bootable, and uses FreeDos. It has a GUI and installs a mouse automatically.

Most older versions of burning software have a facility to backing up a HD to a CD-R(W) but, it was dropped in later versions, for the most part, as it was so slow.

You might want to try and dig up one of those old versions as, although it WAS slow, with faster burners, it probably won't be TOO painful.

If you can boot linux, dd works very well.

Ghost is another good option.

Perfect, I am going to try the Symantec program- it has a free trial available. Thanks for all the feedback. :D
