View Full Version : TI Avigo 10 users?

Anyone out there, who still uses this nice PDA? :)

I don't use it, but I still have one. I was cleaning out my closet tonight and stumbled across it. I searched eBay to see if there was a market for them, but it might be cool to hang on to it and remember the old days! :p

Sorry for my late reply, but I'm no regular VC user. ;) Nice to get at least one reply. :) It's a pity, that there's no active community around this rugged PDA. Hey, it's 10 years old and still fully working!

I think, I'll try to write some small apps for the Avigo.

I'm not familiar with it. Got pix?

TI's Avigo pages are still available: http://www.ti.com/organizers/avigo/docs/avigohome.html

There are some of us that still use it as old as it is, just proves how well TI designed it at the time to last so long.

Unfortunately there is no active community anymore. :(

I found my husbands old Avigo100, and thanks to the threads and adivice here I have managed to resurrect it and give it a second life. I am a Librarian and I am using it as a Data Base, it holds the Library;s complete collection. This has/will make book purchasing so much easier.
Thanks so much.
Have anyone written any games for this old beast?

Please do, is there any way to increase the memory?

April 16th, 2009, 01:14 PM
Yes, there are several games for the Avigo. Unfortunately most URLs don't work anymore, but these are still fine (some only in German):

There's a rare memory expansion module. More info can be found on http://www.ziegler.desaign.de/Avigo/avigo.htm. I bought mine on eBay some years ago.

Does anyone have archives or mirrors of Avigo software? I want to put together a permanent repository. Here are a few links I've found.

I finally got all of the files, now I just need a place to put them. Kind of sad really, the entire archive is under 60MB, and could disappear forever.

here's a permanent link (as long as i'm alive) to the entire archive. I'll combine it into the original PortalPlaza site in the coming days/weeks/months??? as I find time.

Sorry guys, still no time to resurrect the original website, perhaps in the near-ish future. Let me know (http://firewi.com/contact.php) if you're finding the files linked above useful!

...Sorry guys, still no time...

You really ought to consider Bitsavers. It in no way will hinder whatever resurrection

you have in mind, and <will> ensure that the archive does'nt disappear in the event

of unforseen circumstances. Just my $.02...

You really ought to consider Bitsavers...

How would I upload the archive to their service. I've looked around a bit but I don't see any obvious way to get the files to their server. An email perhaps?

AFAICT, if you want to get something onto Bitsavers, put it somewhere that Al Kossow can get at it, and then send him a mail telling what it is and where he can find it.

Sorry guys, only three years late - https://archive.org/details/ti_avigo_10

Now to let Al know where to find it.

I found it, though to be honest IA is probably a better home for it.

There appears to be an Avigo simulator in the archive, in pcbased/AviSim. However, it requires the bootrom for the Avigo, which was available as a download from TI.

Unfortunately, they're no longer online:
