View Full Version : Good or bad review?

This past weekend, an ABBA tribute band held a concert in my region, and the local newspaper was there to write a review. This is the last paragraph from the review:

Particularly good are the two women who play the roles of Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. They perfectly capture the poor choreography from the originals, sing beautifully but without any emotions and have no charisma. Although the audience would've got about the same experience if they had stayed at home, put on an ABBA record and had a glass of wine, it is more fun to see it live.

I'm unsure if the reviewer is sarcastic, if he found the tribute worthwhile or just dislikes ABBA as a band and phenomenon? At least I had a laugh when I read the review. ;)

Me too...

Though I must say, I do enjoy a glass of wine and an ABBA CD now and then...but mostly, it's great travel music. When I have to make that 13 hour drive home, I make sure I've got 3 or 4 of their CDs along.

The review should have simply said, "thank you for the music"...

One thing for sure, they were no Tina Turner on the stage...
To my understanding their stage presence was representative of
their social culture then. But their music was/is unique and beautiful.

p.s. Thanks to atari2600a for the opening line!
