Computer won't power up with SCSI zip drive attached?

It's a LC III Macintosh (the computer). I finally had the chance to boot her up today because I got the VGA-DB15 pin adapter for my monitor. Fire her up, she loads OS 7.1. Fine. Turned her off, plugged in the SCSI zip drive. Turn her on... nothing.

Another thing is she's got an ethernet jack but I don't know how to set it up so Verizon DSL would be usable on it. I found the Network Settings, switched it from AppleTalk to EthernetTalk. No zones detected.

Of course, first guess is the scsi device has some kind of short and is overloading the power supply.

Next guess would be power supply is tired and scsi power demands are too much for it.

I frequently run into floppy drives that suck up too much power, poor laptop just shuts off.

Turns out I bought a parallel port zip drive not a SCSI one. Burned out something and now the computer won't boot from hard drive.
