I have successfully used a standard PC HD drive...

I have successfully used a standard PC HD drive as a 720K in my Amiga Sidecar. I would expect it to work with an A2088 too.

Yes, I replace the sockets also if they are too damaged, but, the machine pin ones don't often match the others on the board, so it makes it obvious the board is not original and has been repaired....
