What a difference a day makes

by Gary C on July 21st, 2020 at 09:53 AM
I have been trying to repair the corroded tracks of my Quadboard, but there are more than I originally thought. Having a look at ebay has bought a ram bare clone board to my attention for a very keen price. Given I have all the correct chips, its probably worth trying to see if that card will work first.

Bezel of the 5160 has been glued and filled and now to spraying. I have found a great colour match in BMW mini pepper white but its the finish that might be difficult. I have given

Projects building up again.

by Gary C on July 20th, 2020 at 12:12 PM
A couple of months ago, I was worried that I was running out of projects, not now.

My XT 5160 is a bit battered, but the bezel is glued back together and the case has been hammered back into about the right shape. Just need some car body filler to remove the surface defects then it will be time to paint. Not sure how to make the splatter, might experiment with nozzle modification of rattle cans. Reading up, a nozzle fitted with a short straw can be used to create a splatter.

World of IBM, Intel multibus plus a new PDP 11 !

by Gary C on July 10th, 2020 at 01:41 PM
My PCW9512 is sort of working and the Gotek is installed and was at a bit of a loss what to do next

I managed to obtain a rack mount Micro PDP-11/73 that will need some care before powering up, but also saw a basket case 5160 on Ebay that was near enough to go and pickup, so went for it and now its mine

The front bezel is split in two and the case is bent on the right hand side, just where the Hard Disk is , so that unit is very suspect, but hey ho.

Multibus & Amstrad PCW, what a pair

by Gary C on June 29th, 2020 at 02:27 AM
Fitted my Gotek into the case by cutting the original badge, as it had been cut out to allow the original drive to be mounted as drive B, it was already missing, but still seems a shame to cut original stuff.
On the plus side, with the OLED, the Gotek looks good and is useable.

Been collecting some multibus cards for a few years now. Have a 286 processor card and a memory card. recently obtained a card frame, linear PSU and have been looking for a suitable 'vintage' looking

iMac G3

by Gary C on June 17th, 2020 at 04:34 AM
Just picked up the iMac G3 I bought mid April (CV19 !) in the original Bondi blue, complete with the puck mouse and box

All seems to work (luckily the owner had reset the system and the password was set back to 'password') but the case and keyboard are filthy.

The keyboard needs really careful work. Removing four screws at the back allow the rear part of the case to be unclipped from the lower, however the front clips will not pop.

To separate these, first
