There are a few electrolytics on the 225, but I think they are just filters. Don’t know for sure though. However, it couldn’t hurt to replace them at this point.

Judging from the way it looks, I’d say it’s an older XT clone board. It just has an older look about it, but I could be wrong.

And, good grief, look at all of those ROM sockets! That is definitely...

The original 1200 is an 8086 with a 26-pin JVC hard drive. The 1200XE is a 286 machine that uses a standard 2.5” IDE hard drive. Hard drives are not going to swap between a 1200 and a 1200XE.

    You...

Oh, I had no plans of replacing the CRT anyways. I had had learned to live with the CRT’s quirks, but this little workaround is something I definitely didn’t know about. Still need to lug my 5155 out...

Okay, so those two floppy drives I found came, and one of them is IBM branded! The eBay pics weren't very good, so I couldn't see it too well.

Here is the IBM drive fitted in my XT:

Thanks for the info! Now that Iíve got the number of it, I should be able to find it.

I love my 5155, but I really wish they had made the internal monitor a true-CGA. Composite creates weird artifacts on certain colors.

But, once you get past that, it’s a fabulous machine. Also,...

If I went, I would NOT bring a U-Haul truck. I’d bring an SUV, and whatever wouldn’t fit in the back of that wouldn’t go. That’s the best way I could think of to force myself not to get too much. Not...

I watched LGR’s video of this place. Seeing the NOS Compaq/IBM stuff, stacks of first-gen Compaq Deskpros, a room full of vintage laptops, it was INSANE! If I went there, I would have to absolutely...

Yikes, that doesn’t sound good. Almost sounds like it could be a head crash.

Having a quick peek inside won’t hurt anything. These old drives aren’t very sensitive to dust.

Cool! I’ll look into that. It also appears there is a riser being made that would let me use a standard ISA RAM expansion, so I’ll look into that as well.

Still very interested in this DMA memory...

Wow, this is really cool! I’ve got an EX that needs more memory, and am very interested in this. I wonder what the reason of not building a DMA controller into the machine was?

    More memory on a 1000EX?

I’ve got this wonderful little 1000EX that I found at Goodwill a few years back, but it really needs more memory.

It’s got the stock 256KB, but I’d really like to have at least 512. Is there a way...
