There is some small amount of fringing on a "perfect" PCjr monitor (which I have). I still content that the thin font makes your problems worse, not better (the vertical lines don't always seem even...
Well, it is a top-shelf product. I forgive you.
;-)
I am thankful I live 25 minutes away from a Microcenter. I needed a DP-to-miniDP cable, and was there and back in 50 minutes.
Reverting back to the regular font is recommended; the thin font was only intended for use on monochrome and/or high res/quality monitors. It will make your issues less noticeable.
The RGB crosshatch pattern in my CGA tester is probably best for fixing convergence, as it displays solid white grid lines on a black background, where bleed would be most obvious.
There was a thin-font modification for the PCjr, and if this is the PCjr I'm thinking of, I saw Tempest buy it at VCFMW about 6 years ago. It also has a 9.54MHz mod :-O
The PCjr monitor has the...
Any drive compressed with Stacker doesn't need the coprocessor card to read the data, only the driver. It should be booting and working normally even without the coprocessor. If you want to...
When a file is not found, you do get the error "file not found" when you try to run something that doesn't exist. "Invalid media type reading drive C" only occurs when a program (or DOS itself) is...
I've never burnt an EEPROM, let alone one with a BIOS, so I defer to other experts here to answer your question.
I'm not clear on what you did exactly to get the drive working. Did you forget to run FDISK to write a partition table after low-level-formatting the drive?
The full code block is:
seg000:C7DD LPT_test: ; CODE XREF: seg000:C799j
seg000:C7DD ;...
Although it might not be as needed any more, I'll still spend an hour disassembling and commenting this, just for posterity.
Chuck: Had no idea the copyright string in both ROMs was intentional. ...
Your memory is slightly muddled; Mark Cox's playback code relies on a MUL per sample, and no 8088-class system's MUL is fast enough. His code was meant for 286s and later. A 10 MHz NEC V30 might be...
I can't trust what you sent me because of the duplicated odd date string at the end. From the working SL, can you follow http://mess.redump.net/dumping/dump_bios_using_debug to dump the latter 16K? ...
How many minutes did it take to load this website for you to post this?
A real sound blaster has a real 8-bit DAC; you should use it. You can drive it like an LPT DAC if you want, feeding samples at a constant rate, but there is a speed penalty (bigger than the LPT...
This isn't practical on 808x-class hardware. Mod Master XT is one of only two viable players that can do this on an 8088-class system (Galaxy Player 2.12 is the other), and their source code isn't...
There is some odd duplication at the very end of what you sent me. How did you merge them?
I just need the 16K FC00 system BIOS, so however you can get that to me, great.
I'll try 16K @ FC00.
Was hoping for just the BIOS rom, but thanks. I'll assume the last 64K is relevant for troubleshooting, unless someone knows the exact size of the BIOS? 32K maybe?
Ah, so you want to reproduce what Mach 3, Space Racer, etc. did on their title screens. Nice :-) Well, they didn't use any compression at all; they used samples that had a playback rate of 6 to 9...
Today's your lucky day: This is my wheelhouse.
ACOMP is indeed a nice scheme, although it doesn't play back realtime on an 808x class system; there is a 2-3 second pause for decompression. ...
If you're still stuck on this in a week or so, and someone can send me the 1000 SL BIOS, I'd be happy to disassemble it to see at least what the BIOS POST is doing and why it is returning that error.
Your benchmark is more a test of the video card RAM speed and video BIOS efficiency than it is of the system. Swapping the video card in a system for a faster one will affect the results. Shadow...
Neither: It was a scam. Grey market isn't that much of a discount (you usually get 20-25%, at least based on cameras and lenses), and criminals have learned that it's less risky to sell stolen...
