3.5" DSDD to be accurate.
Let me look around and see what I've got, if you don't mind used disks.
I wrote a little squib on my experiences with various adapters a couple of years ago here. At that time, I found that the RXD-629A7-7 adapter worked fine on all platforms from Win98SE, Windows 7,...
I was giving them away for shipping. I probably can scrounge a couple dozen yet, but may ask for a donation for formatting and verifying. I still have a few hundred NOS ones.
"using modern PC."
That's probably the cause--the CHS geometry perceived by the modern system is likely different than that seen by the PC. What does FDISK say on the PC? You may have to...
Some flash drives have an "secure erase" function that essentially sets the drive back to zero. There are various utilities floating around for this--even in Linux.
I've had to do this when an...
Is this an 8253 or an 8254 (more common on later early systems)?
It's always a good idea to latch the value, then read.
Yeah, found the article from 2016. Gobble 'em up and spit 'em out, I guess.
Unfortunately, there's no standard. FH drives in the 5170 used plastic rails. I've still got a small pile of those.
Port addresses?
Is perhaps the CMOS setup bollixed?
Did Danaher spin off Fluke already? Just seems like yesterday when they bought it. Or did someone buy Danaher?
Check that the track 0 sensor isn't blocked by dirt.
Then go do your alignment.
No, incompatibility with other known good drives is usually a sign that the alignment is off. i.e. your tracks are not in the same place as "good" drive's are.
Got one here--like new, with a box of various brackets. 4x NEMA 5-15 7 outlet strips. Supply cord has a 3 prong twist lock plug on the 240V side (looks like NEMA L6-30).
$20 + shipping.
I use SSDs in systems with SATA-to-IDE adapters. Mostly Win9x, Win7/XP and Linux. Works fine, if you pick the right adapter--there's a lot of junk out there.

Also, don't forget Steve Gibson's SIB. An oldie but a goodie.

My knock-around DMM that I picked up 6 years ago is this one or its first cousin. It's not bad for what it is and the big display even has a backlight. I wish the continuity tester were louder,...
POST codes on some systems are output to the printer port. See old discussion here.
Basically 8 LEDs connected to the data lines on the printer port.
See the eeVblog YT channel. There are a couple of good videos on this.
DMMs in general have gotten a lot better over the years. 6000 count multimeters are now pretty close to the "budget"...
In fact, I suspect that with the proper BIOS, just about any MFM controller can be programmed for 3K RPM drives. Mostly a matter of getting the LLF to hang onto each track a bit longer.
I...
But at 3K RPM, rotational latency is about 17 percent higher than a standard 3600 RPM drive. I suppose that you could take a 3600 RPM drive and play with the tach circuit to make it 3000, but...
The fan noise is nothing compared to the compressors in a bank of tape drives (CDC 657/659). It was white noise, but LOUD. Our department issued earplugs.
It depends on the ability to share IRQ and DMA resources. Some cards treat the bus as if they owned it, others can step out of the way. Floppy controllers, for example, have that latter ability,...
I've got a Sanco 8001 sample in the hoard, but it's a 5.25" format; it is, however, MFM.
