I am sure China pays very little to Microsoft for Windows anyway. Any new OS they create will need updates and an army of programmers who would take bribes to install CIA spyware anyway.

The real problem is that the fastest P3's probably can't drive the last generation 8x AGP gaming cards in games anyway. I keep some AthlonXP/last generation P4/Athlon64 boards for those.
If you need networking on a PC/XT you might as well relive the good old days of coax. ;)
I still have my old 3COM hubs with coax and cat5 plus some old coax cables with terminators somewhere.
I have a Thinkpad T400 and if I had to buy something newer I would stick with a Thinkpad but a used one. Thinkpads are just easier to work on and cheap to get parts for.
Never had a compelling...
Which shooters are you talking about?
I think the last shooters I purchased from GOG were the Hard Reset and Painkiller games and they were pretty cheap.
Generally I would rather have a boxed...
You should be able to configure the BIOS to boot from the cdrom first. Is the BIOS battery still good?
Seems like the Xbox clone USB controllers need XP or later or even Windows 7, but they are cheap on ebay new.
Ever look around at the local thrifts?
If you are on the GoG mailing list they give out free games from time to time if you act within a few days to claim them.
I just claimed Wasteland 2 Directors cut (I think it is still available...
Most of the valuable stuff was snagged when they started letting people in the door and a few times after when new layers were dug out. I am sure what is left isn't that valuable.
Somebody might...
I have (or had cant seem to find them) some cdrw that were good for dumping drivers on systems during OS installs and then reusing them. Burning a CDR and then junking it seemed like a waste and some...
I have been thinking of getting a Xbox360 for a while but just haven't yet.
There is an Office 2010 installer on the thing but I don't have a serial for it. While the CPU is pretty slow I think the 2GB of RAM is more of a limitation (and the 1GB it shipped with must have...
One of the local guys I get stuff from had a cleanout and I snagged a few old XP era laptops and some old Asus Core2Quad gamer boards.
Anyway he also dumped a HP mini 210-2190NR laptop on me....
I just wiped 2 laptops and Installed XP sp3 MCE and auto update worked fine for me.
If you check the option of having windows do auto updates when you install it works. Windows will download 1...
You should be shot for that, still looking for a 9150 here.
He sounds like a gamer looking for a gamer board but doesn't list what he is really looking for. AGP would be needed for that.
When it comes to food never assume anything.
The whole good by dates on food (and medicine) you see on packaging is either just a guess, incorrect, or just a guide to when something might taste a...
A friend I worked with had a freezer in his basement in the same room as the pool table we used. I guess somebody had put frozen meals in it many years before and forgot about it. Anyway we found out...
Sliced Deli meat needs to be eaten within 5 days.
Walmarts bakery section seems to be cheaper then other local chains with bakeries (break and cookies mostly). They have some decent pepperoni rolls but they are not there all the time and usually...
I remember at one of those traveling computer shows in the late 90s just before they fell out of fashion seeing a vender with a huge wooden box full of old used mostly VLB video cards for a couple...
Early 2000's all that stuff was junk, today it is a different story.
I regret tossing most of my DOS game boxes to save space 20 years ago (kept the disks and manuals).
With hindsight I am sure...
For some reason I was under the impression the old towers had external floppy ports, must just be serial and parallel. Anyway I have an external IBM drive with the ISA version of the IBM card that I...
So I should run out and buy stacks of these timed out bricks and update the firmware? ;)
There is a hacked "patched" Apple drive setup on the internet you can download and use to format any SCSI HD. You can also use 3rd party software like LIDO that is free on the internet.
I...
