Currently a steal at 61 + 150 freight.
Not my sale and I'm not in the market for this particular...
Well that is a pretty good sign that the seller knew it may not be genuine. I opened a 'not as described' case and the seller refunded my purchase within 30 minutes.
I have a pair of 6 year old PLA figured on my desk that don't seem to have degraded.
I printed some christmas light clips that I use each year, after 2 seasons (4 months total) in direct sunlight...
Don't feel too bad, I've done the same thing 3 times with this same post!
TopBench says 8086.
Yes it's an ebay purchase, a semi-local US seller.
If this was rebadged they did a very good job of it, as I said the chip passed with alcohol and acetone.
I have...
I am quite guilty of using the wrong fastener, but it's always the correct thread.
Slot, phillips, allen, truss, button, cap... it doesn't matter as long as thread matches and it's close enough...
Alcohol and acetone tests passed. I will take a crack with top bench tomorrow.
Additional information, the part number is μPD70116C-5 and the case does not say V30 on it like the later parts.
I have a (wooden cased!) 8525-004 that I bought a V30 D70116 NEC CPU for.
I have installed the processed and the machine works just fine, but with none of the added features of the V30
MSD and...
Glad someone took it.
I was about to "get lost" and "ask for directions from the guy in that house right there" with my wife in the car, and somehow end up with a mini full of old computer bits. I...
Morro bay is a few hours south, closer to SLO and Pismo. Unless I'm way off. Everything north of LA is norcal to me!
I cant tell the difference, can you?
8525 on the left. 8086, monochrome screen and wood case.
8525-286 on the right. 80286, VGA screen and original plastic case

Well I found a cheaper (maybe) method for hooking up a gotek to an early PS/2
Instead of spending money on adapters, I used a regular old fashioned 40 pin IDE cable.
Pins 1-34 are the same...
Tektronix for that good second hand scope feeling. Congratulations on a steal!
I stumbled on a TAS220 locally for $25 a few years ago. About as feature rich as a pair of socks, but I will probably...
Have you verified the extra address pin is pulled low?
Alternatively you could try writing the 2K image twice to the chip so it has images in both halves of the eeprom
The mini cooper with 2 people and a week's worth of luggage disagrees with it as well unfortunately.
At this point it's not about money anymore, it's about space usage. My hobbies are starting to...
I will be in the area in 2 weeks, unfortunately with a wife on our annual roadtrip up the coast from SD to SF. I would take everything but she wont let me!
I still program in a dialect of BASIC on a weekly basis for work. VBA behind MS Office (Excel specifically).
It's really stretching the definition of BASIC, but it's a dialect nonetheless. .
What do you do when you have a CRT/chassis/power supply and an 8086 planar, but the rest went into building your 25-286?
You spend an hour in the garage with a circular saw and a drill and make a...
It's quite likely that they have fallen victim to the same problem as so many other shippers recently.
The volume being shipped has been higher than christmas rush levels, for 10 months straight....

Essentially, it's plug the drive in and hope. Some drives work, some planars work.
I never tried with my 8086 machine and it's blown up into pieces right now.
They do not support 1.44 officially but there are a couple of ways to work around that.
I cheated and spent $15 instead of modifying the stock floppy cable
https://texelec.com/product/ibm-ps2-to-standard-floppy-adapter/
You will need to flash the gotek with Flashfloppy, the stock...
And solved it. Jumper needed on J5 for PS/2 to recognize the gotek as high density. Also solved my chicken and egg problem of getting the starter disk to boot. I had worked around that by booting...
