Today's arrival: a Sun Ray 2-compatible Tadpole M1400, but unlike the Accutech Gobi8, this is x86-based (Celeron M 540). It has a nicer screen and even has a built-in web browser -- incredibly, it's...

I see that more with '030s than '040s. The Mystic Color Classic and Q800 here are still on their original caps, but all my '030 systems (IIci, IIsi, SE/30) needed to be recapped.

I would be very surprised if it were caps. These things aren't that old, and I'm kind of tired of that always being the standard answer.

As the author of that document, you're probably hosed :( At that point, it's most likely something wrong with the power supply.

This was a real problem on the RISC laptops, too. Even 1024x768 was cramped, and 800x600 was nearly impossible (such as on the early PPC ThinkPads).

This kind of only sort of qualifies, but Stan Sieler pointed me to an eBay auction for an Accutech Gobi that was in Schrodinger's state and had no PSU. It was fairly thrashed but it was interesting,...

  12. WTB/D: Mac Portable (recapped, or someone who can recap them)

I'm looking either for a recapped Mac Portable, or someone who can. I'm certainly willing to pay for good work -- PM if interested or if you have one you could be "convinced" into parting with.

I'm sorry, I meant that to mean everything else of what I posted since it's split across two pages. The article made that clear. I apologize for the confusion.

Oh, how odd. I just noticed the markings on the board; I was going by the sign and only cursorily glanced at the PCB. Updated.

    Some pics from VCFW 2019

I've put up some of my pics in two parts since the blogs I maintain have somewhat different audiences. This isn't everything I shot but it's the ones I found most meaningful to me.

Yeah, it's not a typical Power Mac PSU. I don't think it was Apple-developed but I don't know much about it (and I mostly have experience with the 500, which doesn't have failover redundancy).

I also thought it tasted similar to Pepsi. However, my dad said it tasted like RC to him, and I read somewhere else that they likened it to the taste of Diet Coke but with sugar, which makes sense...

The New Coke is actually New New Coke, from Coca-Cola's recent Stranger Things promotion. But it is legit New Coke inside, controversial flavour recreated.

I have two rooms in the house, a computer room and a server room, which also has storage. Those are in the link below. Other items go into "cold" (climate controlled storage) if they're working, or...

I was hoping for the CLI options with MiNT, though. I have MacMiNT and that's rather fun (especially the "Just Enough TOS" layer) to play with perl and gcc on a command line that isn't A/UX, and I...

A small MiNT for a new STacy

Managed to land a "new" STacy. This one is in fine working condition except for some scuffs, but it only has a 1MB RAM card (for that matter, the STacy I murdered had only a 2MB card).

    I'd like to...

I actually asked Best about it, but it's possible I nailed both the motherboard *and* the RAM/TOS board, which would make this an expensive repair. And that assumes I didn't kill the top case at the...
