    I just snagged an 8 bit ISA Soundblaster 2 clone...

    I just snagged an 8 bit ISA Soundblaster 2 clone (Packard Bell labeled Sound Galaxy BX 2). I assume that would work in an 8088 which is why I snagged it. Have yet to test it.

    1mb sticks are the easiest and cheapest to find. Just make sure they are either 3 chip or 9 chip (parity) unlike the 2 chip and 8 chip non parity that work in Macs.

    I think 5 slots was just fine for an early 1980's PC machine. Once the PC caught on and people started making other types of cards for it then switching to more (and 16 bit ) slots made sense.

    The cards are good for face value for something...

    The cards are good for face value for something like a year then after that they take out a fee until they are empty. So if you lost a rebate card a few years ago it is probably worthless now.
