Default Phantasie -- just how good is it?

Found a copy of "Phantasie" for the PC yesterday a couple of days ago at Goodwill, read some pretty decent reviews of the game. Has anyone else here played the game and if so, what was your opinion of it? Did it take a while to finish?

I got stuck. I was playing Phantasie III and, even though I own the original package with "manual" (it's a small sheet), I was unable to figure out how to GO UP STAIRS in a mansion. Without the fundamental capability to go up or down, I was quickly stuck.

I had a lot of fun up until that point, though, as the combat system is interesting. Maybe I'm just an idiot.

Luzur -- a couple of days ago I found quite a few SSI games for the Commodore 64 (see my current thread under "willowmoon93 collection") -- and I managed to buy them for a good price as well! Once I have the time, I need to start playing them. Then again, I do need to finish Ultima III first ...
