    I sent 100 PII-550 boards off to a university in the US for a cluster they were building (seems every university tries it as some point or another) but never really kept up on the project.

    For me, PIIs are too new to be legacy and too old to be useful, so, it wasn't a great sacrifice on my part and they paid the shipping. Just more space now.

    The Stone SouperComputer had several 386 and 486 nodes. It was also built using donated computer

    Would a small cluster of p3's (say 10 or 15 of them) significantly lower the processing time of encoding a DVD prior to burning?
