Default Data General One - Score!

I managed to get myself a Data General One 2T laptop from Ebay for only .99p at the weekend. I've got to wait a couple of weeks before I can pick it up, but I'm real pleased about my find.

Nice - and amazing price too. It should go nicely with the other portables in your computer museum.

I picked up the DG1 Model 2T at the weekend. Apart from being *really* dirty, and covered in stickers, it was in very good condition. It came with the original power supply, manual and even the original purchase paperwork, such as warranty card!

I've cleaned it up, and turned it on, and it works just fine, although there does appear to be an issue with the second floppy drive. I'm not bothered too much about that, as the unit comes with a shed load of EMM memory, and an emmdisk.sys driver in the config.sys makes this a 1.2Mb ramdrive on C:. Very useable.

I thought the backlight was broken at first, but then after reading the manual, I find that it is off by default, and there is a key combination to turn it on.

Will take pictures soon and post to my Computer Museum website.

Key combination?! Wow, I need to look that up. I assumed the screen was meant to be that dark.

It is the 'Cmd' and the '+' key (both on the right column of the keyboard.) Also 'Cmd' and 'PgUp' to increase contrast.

Ok. Cmd "+" and Cmd "-" make no difference on my machine. Cmd "Pg Up" and Cmd "Pg Dn" however increase and decrease contrast as desired.

Do you happen to have a copy of this file? I picked up a DG One / 2T last year, and can't find the emm ram disk driver anywhere.

If you could make an image of the whole boot disk that would be awesome!

Does anyone have the later edition of the One and wants an auxiliary keypad for it?
