I'm all the way in Connecticut and I agree! It's not that I would go all the way there, but you guys out west haven't had anything in a while.

I know Sellam, I wouldn't use the name without his "OK". We haven't even got that far yet.

As a Dane I would have thought Esbjerg was more like it.

Hehe, you're right, we're often local yokels here in North America. Funny how the internet doesn't seem to have fixed that yet.

I'm sure you could put together a meet or small show without the need to ride on the VCF trademark right away.

I know from arranging somewhat similar events in my part of the world that an inexpensive venue is the first thing to look for,
often in combination with asking about appropriate dates. Once you have a place and a date that works for several of the
arranging crew, you can start working with content and marketing. Local people are preferred when it comes to inventoring
the venue and its possibilities, often also for various transportation issues although most people would bring their own gear to
    their displays.

    Hi
The next thing is dependable volunteers. It takes
a lot of work to come up with table, extension cords
and other items. You need a ready crew to set them
up ahead of time and then to strip it down at the
    end of the last day.
You also need contigency plans for when things don't
work out right ( example: one of the exhibiters has
a family emergency and can't be there to shut down ).
You have to be ready for most anything.

    That is VERY true!

I know for fact that Sellam would love to restart VCF West -- if only he had enough qualified helpers.

That was an interesting thing. He pretty much always put it together by himself. He had some common friends that helped out when there but from what it sounded like he did the planning, etc and funding himself which was obviously tough for one person to have that much time/resources. Actually, Evan I spoke to you briefly during VCF 10, as well as the gentleman who hosts the VCF Europe who was kidding that I could crash in the hallways in the hotel it was hosted at and make up the difference in price.

Either way I had always meant to go since I had heard of the first one but never had the funds line up at the same time. VCF South 3 is in August also but I was waiting for some more official announcements/response from Gil before I plugged it around. Sellam at the time was very concerned about getting the word out that he was going to take a break but not ending the event. Maybe he just needs to hear folks are interested and willing to help? Or branch off and recreate another faire, any would be cool.

Actually I met a few of you all there too, didn't mean to not name drop. Out of curiosity, what does it take to get you to shows Vince? I wasn't sure what tactics other VCFs had done to attract speakers/vendors. Anything or is it just popular enough that the crowd and potential sales is the attraction?

Exactly. He burned out. I'm lucky, because MARCH has plenty of good helpers here in New Jersey.

Hmm .... I have admit, not clear who you are online vs. offline! Sorry about that. As for VCF Europa, that's Hans.

Well, many people * say * they're willing to help. But not everyone follows through. And not all helpers are created equal.
