yes. I got the system from a flea market, it was in the dirt. Frankly it was a miracle that it powered up at all. I cleaned it for a couple hours, I recall, before powering on. I still have the system. It's not pretty but it works.

after messing around a bit I got it to work. Is there a way of copying files from one disk drive toanother?

Not directly, the way you can with a DOS COPY command. If the file is BASIC, you can LOAD it, swap disks, then SAVE. If it's binary data (and will all fit in memory at once), and you know exact start address and length, you can BLOAD, swap, and BSAVE. Otherwise you have to use a disk copy utility of some sort.

[QUOTE=Rubywand;2153]You can find some info on connecting the drive cables and getting started in the Apple II FAQs at ...

    http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/A2FA...NHALL.html#020

Hmmm. That must obviously be your FAQ and not the FAQ withdrawn by the onetime moderator of the A-II with his Compuserve compadres, who was in a snit over pirating of his A-II Wolfenstein and general rebellian against his reign. Hee ! Somewhere on one of my computers I have that original FAQ and have considered making it available on a Russian Blog. :^))

The A-II newsgroup had to be one of the nastiest of Usenet history. A war-zone.

Good to see you're still active.

"The Topic that Came Back from the Dead"... Coming to a theater near you!

My apple ][e looks great and it even boots like a charm. When I got it at the VCF last year, I had the one and only Trixter actually type some basic on it ("Docter Who Rocks!" on loop I think), It was great.

Wow... this is an old post, but hey... if you plug the drive cable in backwards on a 5.25" disk you most likely have blown the 74LS125 chip inside the drive itself.
