So not a dumb question at all but the start of a very interesting thread!

I did wonder about the usefulness of the Mappa-1 But how many of us are in this forum, or attaching logic analysers to mis-behaving hardware, or re-designing 30+ year-old hardware, for "useful"?

From a historical perspective it would be worthwhile. You could argue it's analogous to Z-80 cards in Apple ][s, the BBC Micro "light pipe" which became the test bed for the first ARM processors. Or, for that matter, the Xilinx ZYNQ I'm looking at while I type this (ARM Cortex A9 + FPGA).

I just joined this forum. If anyone is interested in finding out more about Micromerlin, let me know.

The LNW80 Team 8088 expansion and probably the microMerlin are separate 8088 cards which communicated over one or more I/O-ports with a host computer. It might look like the Philips P2000C 8088 option card for which at least a schematic is available: http://electrickery.xs4all.nl/comp/p...Manual-AM1.pdf (page 30).
