Thread: Kaypro 2X boot disk?

  1. #1

    Default Kaypro 2X boot disk?

I just acquired a Kaypro 2X and of course there are no boot disks. Can anyone suggest how or where I can find one of these? I understand that there is a flavor of the Kaypro master disk that only works in the 2X.

    Thanks much,
    Steve

Open it up to find which ROM you've got (it's printed on top) and then go here: http://www.retroarchive.org/maslin/d...pro/index.html

    Hi Steve,

Congrats on the 2X. I have the same version. If you still need a boot disk, I can copy one and send it out to you.

I saw that page but don't know how to make images out of the data there.
I also found this page with operating system files, http://www.retroarchive.org/cpm/os/os.htm
which has already-assembled files for the 2X - KAYPRO2X.ZIP. Looks like the "63KBOOT" folder constitutes a boot disk.

My next challenge is to get the fies from my shiny laptop to my Kaypro. I am building a PC with a 5.25 inch floppy - creating a CP/M disk on that should be interesting at best.

If all else fails I will ask Cary or some other kind member to mail me a disk.
