Thread: IBM 5150 & 5153 in automatic car wash!

Default IBM 5150 & 5153 in automatic car wash!

    Hey!

I plan to strap my 5150 & 5153 to the hood of my automobile and run it through the automatic car wash!

It is dusty and I have no time to clean it properly.

It would be better if I had a 5154 of course.

Maybe I will also include the model F keyboard.

    Pictures to come soon!

If only it were an AT&T 6300 or a PS/2!

Please don't do that. All the pressurized water will destroy the computer especially disk drives.

Dear God, don't. Carwashes are built to deliver pressures that can be withstood by car bodies, not personal computers.

I didn't know it was April 1st again.

Why not just use a pressure washer, that way you can remove/destroy the components more easily.

Well, if it was a joke, it wasn't very creative.

I mean, how about taking your PC to the local laundromat and throwing it into one of the jumbo-sized washers?

I'll pay good money to see that happen to OP's own computer.

In the end I do not go through with auto wash.

I went for hand wash instead. The attendant advised to remove the system. He offered $10 for it. I declined.

This system belonged to IBM executive from D/FW.

It has Tecmar Captain expansion and Tandon 10MB hardcard.

It also came with 5151 monitor. I have 5154 but damaged flyback transformer.

Also thanks to expert member "mbbrutman" to generous assistance with Model F plug repair from some time ago.

But, .Seriously. This rock needs laughter.
