Thread: Sears / Kmart (near) free stuff for the Holidays (USA)

Cool Sears / Kmart (near) free stuff for the Holidays (USA)

For those who are into online shopping: Sears / Kmart are nearly giving away the store. Sign up for a Shop Your Way card and rack in (near) free stuff. Between online sweepstakes, surprise points (personalized coupons) and regular coupons coupled with sales / promotions it is easy to get loads of stuff (near) free.

Examples include Lego, apparel, tools, automotive supplies, groceries: you name it. Pretty cool.

Sadly they will probably collapse early 2018. So get it while you can.

I've been a Shop Your Way customer for a couple of years, mostly interested in tools.

Very little in the area of tools is made outside of China; Sears used to be proud to offer "made in USA" hand tools. No more. The warranty on most of their inventory has been weakened substantially, to the point of "defects within 90 days of purchase" instead of the "break it--we'll replace it forever" policy of old.

Their power tools often have even weaker warranties. I may splurge on the Black Friday sales and get a set of screwdrivers--for name brands, their prices are no better than anyone else.

I hauled away lots of (near) free stuff over the weekend. Got a free Lego set today. Idiotically (from a loss prevention perspective) it generated even more offers for (near) free stuff.

I picked up a set of taps and dies and a screwdriver set using their Surprise Cash bucks. I'm not expecting miracles, but with $40 off the Black Friday prices, I was willing to take a gamble. I discovered that the trick there is to take a large order and break it up into several orders, each claiming the Surprise points bonus.

FWIW, the "surprise cash" discounts only seem to work on Windows systems. My Linux Firefox browser couldn't make it work.

Weird! Got more (near) free stuf today. Life vest for kids; shirts; silver necklace; socks; storage bins. When you play SYW sweepstakes on Friday they give you $5 FREECASH on $5 again. Signed my wife up so two offers. Working on signing my MIL up.

Staff at the stores is pretty depressed. Have quite a few orders that have not been picked yet although I placed them days ago. Will need to escalate again with customer service tomorrow.

Went in yesterday and picked my own orders. Staff got really upset. Weird! Lots of free stuff. More free stuff orders placed today. Also got 10% birthday bonus cash back for November. Awesome.

    Cool

When you spend $10 (up to $50 per SYW member) on Kmart store brand items you get the $ back in points. Outstanding deal. Lots of Legos for my sons after stacking points with coupons. Sears has a similar deal: $50 back in points on $75 tools this week. Plus $1 back in January per $5 spent @ Kmart: points released on 2/1. Sears is very desperate to keep the cash flow going obviously.

Volvo test drive: $75 Amazon gift card. Hyundai: $40 VISA. Subaru: $25 VISA. Did an automotive survey @ some point: got the $25 check in the mail: never really expected it.

Kmart is gone in the city closest to me and Sears is on the way out... I wonder why... lol I wonder what is going to take Sears place in the mall (which is still doing rather well).
