    Default 1000SX BIOS image needed

Is it possible to burn a new BIOS ROM for a Tandy 1000SX ?
I assume so, but have been unable to find an image anywhere.
I have a totally dead 1000SX, and would like to first put a new
BIOS ROM chip in before spending more time troubleshooting.

It would be nice if there was an equivalent to the SuperSoft ROM
images for the IBM PC...that worked in the Tandy, haven't found
any info about this....maybe an ISA post card would give a clue.

    +1.
I'm also interested in having a dump of that BIOS.

I have a bunch of tandy roms, 01.01.00, 01.02.00, 01.03.00 I just dont know if they are for the 1000 or 1000sx. These are single files, and I also dont know the bios organisation in a tandy (if its 1 chip or two chips split into hi/lo or odd/even)..

Can you please upload the 1.02 and 1.03 versions. It might be possible to determine the machine type
by opening the BIOS image in an editor......

I found this BIOS info online :
    1000SX BIOS
    01.02.00 Original and current version
This is the same ROM that it used in the1000EX
    Part Number Version Chip Socket
    MXP-0005 01.02.00 U41

I have several SuperSoft diagnostic ROMS, I may try putting this in the 1000SX and see if it loads.

I have been interested in dumping the bios for the Tandy 1000 SX for some time now.

If you could point me to which chips I need to dump (a graphic would be helpful) I can try and see if I can do that in the next couple of days for you. I have a reader that will do the trick I think.

    ....

Did some more checking, and it looks like the SX only uses a single 128K ROM chip for the bios. The technical reference lists it as U41 (which is a chip just in front of the inner most ISA slot. You can see a picture of it here (with a battery clock installed underneath) - http://www.oldskool.org/guides/tvdog...watchLarge.JPG. Does anyone know what the specifications on this chip are or what model number it is? The technical reference doesn't give any additional details.

I'll try and see if I can remove it and read the contents. Hopefully i'll come back with good news.

More updates. I think I found your rom here: https://www.planetemu.net/rom/mame-roms/t1000sx-1

Just click telecharger (french for download), and I believe the rom is the 8040328.u41 file which would make sense given the part location on the technical specifications is u41, and the part number matches 8040328.

Give that a go and let me know if that works for you. I can try to read the rom if you are still having issues with this.

    uploaded 01.01.00, 01.02.00, 01.03.00

    https://kråketær.com/tandy_rom.zip

these are 64kb roms, and lot of duplication inside, double byte stuff going on.

I dont think these are complete roms.

I suspect I used these or tried to on tandem back in the day.

Thanks a lot for finding that ! I'll try this ROM and see what happens.

Actually I was thinking about this some more, I guess I could remove the ROM and try reading it in to see if its okay.
