    Default New old stock computers?

Anyone know where to find new old stock computers?

California Digital appears to have shutdown about half a year ago.

This is the closest thing I could find but it's pretty pricey and runs Vista.

What is your goal? There aren't a lot of unopened computers just sitting around for sale I don't think. There are lots of places that have off-lease business hardware, but even that stuff is mostly newer than Vista at this point.

There was an Indian company selling tons of NOS Casio PB-100 pocket computers, Casio FA-11 printers and similar vintage hardware in my area five years ago for like $20 each. I bought a few - all of them came in their original unopened packaging boxes and still worked fine! I checked the place again last year and the store seemed to have closed down.

It is very hard to find NOS computers nowadays, at least in my city. Most people will simply throw them away and won't bother to put in efforts selling as demands are low.

You can get a brand new Palm TX on Ebay. Someone somewhere has a huge pile of them. Not a bad little unit either.

It all depends on what you're looking for. I bought a HP Elite Book laptop from the HP business store that was a refurb from a lease return. When I got it it looked to be NIB. Stuff is out there; you just need to look for it.

I found a HP buisness laptop new but without the box for free when cleaning out the closet.
Wanted: Any old clunky 286-P1 machine that has some kind of working battery or replaceable with off the shelf parts. Preferred: 10+lbs 386 machines.

Once, and this is a true story I met a guy who owned a Commodore and IBM PC repair shop and store. He closed it down in the early 1990s but never clearned it out, it was left as-is for 15 years. He opened it up for me and let me buy whatever I wanted. I got a brand-new C64-C and a bunch of software still in shrink wrap. He never opened it again. I was his last customer. I noticed stacked against his wall he had a few dozen 1581 chassis, empty and a lot of repair jobs never finished. Kind of weird. I still have all of what I bought that day, but I kept the C64-C unused. It's still in the orig box with wrapping bags and such.

    Maybe in your town....

Dell doesn't offer that deal anymore, it looks like they just forgot about that page.

If you follow the link to the Dell outlet store, there are lots of laptops under $250.

I don't know what vintage of machine you're looking for, but the farther back you go, the fewer you're going to find NIB/NOS.
