Thread: Commodore 64 & VIC-20 keyboard longevity

  1. #11

I got once a C64 with a terrible contacts, I opened it and found out the previous owner had glued tin foil in each keyboard contacts. I removed all this crap and using a soft graphite pencil, you scratch each contact rubber. It feels like new

I just got an old 5-pin C64 with hard contacts I will have to do the same,.

I learned the hard way years ago not to clean the VIC-20 keyboard with rubbing alcohol. Smears/removes the characters on the side of the keys almost instantly. Never did that again.
