Just an FYI: Vintage sewing machines (1930's and 40') are still in use at most "Cobbler"/shoemaker shops. My father-inlaw has been a cobbler since the late 1970's and will not buy modern equipment. At both his shops, the sewing machines are from the 30's since they can stitch leather easily and the shoe sanding/polishing/buffing machines are from the 40's. I remember when he opened his second shop a few years back, we drove 12 hours to pick up a "new" machine with him. The industrial motors are new or rebuilt, but the actual machines are vintage.
