    Default Catch-22 with Google Drive

I ran across some information contained in a Google Drive account, but it was private, so I had to request access. This is the reply I received from Google:

    Address not found
Your message wasn't delivered to xxxxxx@gmail.com because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail.
    So what does one do?

    Punt.

It used to drive me up a wall when a guy I worked for a decade ago would say that. He'd expect me to get the job done. I'd show him how it couldn't be done and then ask him what I should do. He'd say "Punt." That meant I had to get the job done anyway even though it wasn't possible. That was one of the nails I the coffin of my staying at that employer.

But in this case, I think it's applicable. I run into this all the time. Not just with Google. Searching the web proves to be pretty useless these days.

I don't understand. Punt means you give up, not continue.

I would retry it later. Google sometimes has outages.

Drive knows what Google user owns the Document you are trying to request access too. It's highly unlikely that the account doesn't exist but the documents still list the account as the owner of the doc.

Thanks, I'll try again in a day or so before I give up.
