Thread: Hexdump for IBM-5155 ?

  1. #1

    Default Hexdump for IBM-5155 ?

I have working a 6800 cross assembler on my vintage 5155 (running DOS V3.3) and I have been able to successfully assemble a program to create hex object files for the 6800 cpu. However I can't view the hex file on the 5155 and I have to take it currently to a new computer with a hex viewer/editor with my Eprom burner. Was there a vintage Hex dump software utility that would allow a hex file like this to be viewed and edited in DOS 3.3 ?

Probably, but note also that DEBUG will accept .HEX files as input.

Thanks Chuck, I didn't know that, I'll give it a try.

Also, there are several in the good old SIMTEL20 archive here.

If you do much fooling with MSDOS, it's worthwhile to burn a SIMTEL20 CD from archive.org.

    Chuck,

I tried a few of the file editors. The most simple and effective one that runs easily on the 5155 is the one labelled BPE14. It allows viewing and editing and some search functions. Thank you for putting me on to this useful utility. I've attached a photo.

(ps: I tried debug to examine the .hex file, but my hex file locked up the computer !).
