Thread: Bebox revisited

    Default Bebox revisited

Lately I've been motivated to revisit some stuff I've not messed with in a bit, due to finding a nice and complete TRS-80 Model II here locally. Yesterday it was a TRS-80 Model III that I've had forever, and today was one of my Bebox.....a Rev. 06 Bebox from 1996.

It came right up...and I had forgotten just how much fun it is to watch the blinkenlights flash and move as it runs thru tests and boots, showing the load on each CPU. I had also forgotten just how early the BeOS install on it is...it booted into DR7, dated mid 1996.

Are there other Bebox's here on the forum?

Yup, dual 133, running BeOS 5.0. At one time I got Sheepshaver working on it sort of. It's a beautiful machine.

I've got a Rev 6 dual 66 and a Rev 6 dual 133, both with gray bezels. The dual 133 failed a flash rom update years ago and doesn't boot still but it may be going to a new home.

I also have a Rev. A Hobbit...gotten from the Be Inc. auction. What serial is yours? Was it part of the comparison between a few hard disk images on Bebox.nu in 2005?

Sweet. I've never used Sheepshaver, but I put Christian's Shapeshifter to good use on my Amiga's

I can reprogram the flash chip for you, if you want to send it to me.

    58. I'm pretty sure it was, prior to my receiving it from... Cameron Macmillan? I'm not sure I remember his name correctly. I'd have to check my records.

Yes, Cameron had both 9 and 58 and he imaged the drives on both. I have 44 and still have the drive images for all three of them, plus the floppy disk set that Ludovic Hirlimann provided.

I've got a dual 66. I know of one other that a friend has, but it doesn't boot.
