Default MC6840 Programmable Timer Module - Any Apple II-related projects?

I recently received an Apple II expansion card that includes a Motorola MC6840 programmable timer module. It has three independent timer, and everything on the MC6840 is accessible through the peripheral I/O bus on the Apple II. Are there any interesting hardware projects or experiments that I could do with this chip and the Apple II? Googling around doesn't come up with hardly anything.

    Thanks!

Some examples can be found in the Motorola application manual for the 6840.
It is a processor agnostic guide to the 6840 PTM.

The included code and concepts could be easily adapted to the apple 6502. Very versatile chip.
