Thread: Radeon 9800 fan failure

    Default Radeon 9800 fan failure

I have a Radeon 9800 where the fan fell off? Is this something I can fix or replace? I still have the fan rotor.

That's normal. They're pretty old now. I think Digikey sells "shroudless" fans as a substitute repalcement but there isn't a solderless off the shelf replacement that I am ware of these days.

Thanks for the replies. I actually found a fan on Amazon. I'm going to give it a shot. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If it's just about getting it to work, I take some random fan, that is at least the size of the old, has about the same power in airflow and use cable ties to fix it to the card/cpu/...
    whatever needs to be cooled.

In a second step it's most likely cheaper to use an almost fitting fan and drill some screw-holes in the aluminium. There are self-cutting screws for metal. For small connections self-cutting plastic screws will do also (you'll find the for example in a fm-radio-receivers's case or a dvd-players case for the metal screws).
