Default Anyone know what this is?

    Hello!
I recently came across this thing and i don't know what it may be. It has "Cyrix" written on it and it looks like it would fit in a 387 socket (bottom side has pins similar to a 387) so i thought i'd ask here.
The chip looks like it's a PAL

    Thanks!

A partial match for the IC comes up as some Texas Instruments PAL.

It's some sort of interposer, probably for a Cyrix 387. As to what it does, not a clue. A few things I could think of what it could be for:

    - A fix for bugs in some chip revision.
    - Adapt to a non-standard 387 socket.
    - Allow asynchronous clock speeds for the 387.

I did some brief searches for Cyrix interposers and didn't come up with anything, it's not a common part whatever it does. You could see if someone would dump the PAL, which would shed some light to what it does.

If the security fuses are blown, dumping could be a big job, as it's a registered PAL, not purely combinatorial.

It's quite likely that it's discussed in some long-lost Cyrix application note, however.
