Thread: z80 Softcard Question

  1. #1

    Default z80 Softcard Question

I have installed my z80 Softcard into Slot 4 as recommended. I have been pouring over the manual and it looks like all I need to do to use CP/M is insert the Master CP/M disk and boot from that disk.

I have two problems - first I do not have a copy of that disk. Second, I am using my Apple exclusively with an 800K 3.5" drive.

Does anyone know where I can find a CP/M master disk for an 800K drive (which I believe holds 640K when formatted for CP/M)?

You can try the site here.

Yours is probably a Microsoft Softcard clone; so try with those disks first.

Not sure what to do about the 800k drive though.....

Get the software downloads first and worry about the disk geometry later.

There is a tool called ADTPro http://adtpro.com that permits you to download files to the Apple II from a PC host and then save them to disk.

I am yet to install my Z80 soft card into my IIe - that's going to be a Christmas Holiday job - so I will be interested to help you out in the interest of educating myself as I go.

I will be messing with my Franklin 1200 tonight. Ill see how it goes and post my findings with my z80 card. Want to use wordstar over applewriter. (Copywrite kills anything real Apple on the Franklin anyway)
