Thread: Uknown vintage Item

    Default Uknown vintage Item

    Does anyone know exactly what this is and what it belongs to. It was in a box of old ram chips and cant work out what its off.
    It looks like a ram module or buffer or something memory related but what is it off????

    It has the following markings:

    outside on stickers:

    PN 53F6575
    EC A89017
    9482

    Inside on pcb adnd another sticker:

    Zinco 119-94v-0
    AFD 53F6571
    ECA 79017
    2205F657101

    My best guess is a printer RAM expansion. But it's more protected than most of those.

    The part number is an IBM part number.

    The resellers are showing it is 2MB of RAM, but I can't figure out what machine/system is it for.

    I have wondered for years what it was for. But now what the hell do I do with it???

    It's not all that valuable, esp since it is in unknown condition.
    I don't know if anyone would be willing to risk blowing up their 3174 to try it
    unless they had a couple of the low-end models that didn't have enough memory
    to run some of the later revision software.

    I just got a 3174 this week, which is why I immediately recognized it.

    Thank you ever so much for that information its very interesting. Nice to see where its goes now.
    I might just stick it on ebay and see if anyone wants it as its of no use to me.
