    Default Amstrad Mega PC

    Hi,

I just got myself an Amstrad Mega PC (well, actually I got 2 of these from the seller ...)
This is a computer with a built in Sega Mega Drive (Genesis if you're from the US ).
It's a great little system with a 386sx processer at 25Mhz. It only came with 1MB RAM, which wasn't that much when it cam out.
It also came with a special monitor that supports both 15khz and 31khz VGA signal.
The FM soundchip from the Sega Mega drive was used by the PC for Adlib sound.

Is there anyone that has the original software that came with the system? I'm trying to get it as close as possible to the original state.

Cool! Ask on AmiBay. They have dedicated Amstrad sections.

Hi Thanks for the info, but I don't need the physical disks, I only need the software (floppy images), so I can install it in it's original state.

    What a fascinating machine.

I dont remember any specific software for it, the two halves of the machine are separate, my friend had one for a short time. I'd often see these at computer swap meets back in Australia.

According to http://www.playright.dk/rare/titel/amstrad-mega-pc/smd Mega PC only came MSDOS 5 and Counterpoint, much like most other Amstrads of the time.

Thanks for the information. One of the machines still has Counterpoint installed. As mentionned on that website, it's very limited

I think I have disk images of both (Amstrad MS-DOS 5.0 and Counterpoint). They came with a PC5286 not a Mega PC but, as Krebizfan said, the software is the same for all Amstrads.

    I'll try to find them.

I've uploaded Amstrad OEM MS-DOS version to this site:

The version of Counterpoint I have is from 1991, I'm unsure if it's the one included with the Mega PC so I've not uploaded it.
