    Default Floppy Drive quit working.

    Hello,

I have an Apple IIe with a couple of 5 1/4 floppy drives. While I was working cleaning them today, one of them stop working. It is spinning but looks like the head is not moving and the led is not lightning. I switched connector with the other drive and the floppy still does not work.

Any tips on how to check what is not working?.

Computer was really dirty when i got it, that is why I was cleaning them.

    Regards

    Luis

Did you hear a motor running? If not, open the drive up and see if any of the capacitors (cylindrical-shaped, or yellow-round-candy-shaped components) have burst or have char marks.

T-Squared, I opened the Drive Unit and found that the motor that spins the diskette is working, motor is spinning, but looks like the head is not moving like in the other unit.

I think one of the capacitors is burned, will try to check tomorrow and take a picture of it.

    Regards

    Hello T-Squared, Hello guys,

Haven't have the chance to take a picture of the floppy drive, but I took this one today.
