Thread: Model 4 Gate Array Floppy Cable

Default Model 4 Gate Array Floppy Cable

I have a bad cable with a bad metal contact I can't repair. This is causing trouble with my known good floppy drives.
Are there any cables out there that will work for a Model 4 Gate Array?

They are out there from plenty of people, but you can also flip the connector around (I mean remove it from the ribbon and put on upside down) if you want, because half the pins are ground signals.

Is it the card edge or the IDC header that goes on motherboard?

It is the card edge to the floppy drive.
    Thanks

You can get replacement card edges from a few online parts places. unicorn requires a minimum purchase, digikey, Newark and mouser might have them. You can just pop the old off and put a new one on, I use a vice to close them down.

Getting a replacement cable might be cost effective, but connectors shouldn't be more than a buck or two.
