Default Late Apple II going for $1200?!

Scratching my head on this one:

From my tracker I know late serial A2S1s usually go for $600+. But I cannot figure out where the other $600 is coming from. It's a monochrome monitor, some disks. Unless there's some rare card in there I'm not seeing.. guess it must be the 1 owner thing?

It might be a one owner thing.

    Rich people

My first thought is given the condition perhaps someone has a "business" related use for it. Although since the disk drive doesn't match, I wouldn't think a movie prop.

The listing doesn't say who died. Perhaps it was someone semi-famous and certain bidders know.

This is an interesting one for sure.. it's a 60000's SN machine but it has a Rev 04 black slot board. Usually these are Rev 07. Just never know with Apple.

Personally I'm over the Apple II... there are lots of them out there. Only one I would pay $ for is a Rev 0. Anything after that = not that special.

Red label IIs were the last IIs assembled in parallel with II+. My observation is that they were pieced together with whatever parts that were still lying around.

Yeah.. but why have all the other ones gone for $650ish and this one is going for $1200+? What am I not seeing? I mean, I know it comes with monitor and a few bits of software.. but still..

I wish I could find out why there's that gap in serial numbers from 40,000 to 60,000. I asked Woz via email but he declined to answer.
