    Default Does anyone have file transfer software for the Exidy Sorcerer?

    Hi folks,

    I'm looking for a file transfer program for the Sorcerer. Anyone got one?

    I've dug around the net but no luck.

    thanks!

    If you have a DOS Computer, there is always 22DISK with the Exidy Definition:
    BEGIN EXI1 Exidy Sorcerer - SSDD 48 tpi 5.25" (if you are not a REGISTERED USER of 22DISK, Chuck
    will get you set up with a registered copy with almost 600 definitions of CP/M systems.)

    Assuming you have a SS/DD 48 tpi 5.25" floppy.

    If you have cpmtools, or cpmtools built with libdsk, there are a couple of definitions that will help you:
    # EXI1 Exidy Sorcerer - SSDD 48 tpi 5.25" - 256 x 16
    diskdef exi1
    seclen 256
    tracks 40
    sectrk 16
    blocksize 2048
    maxdir 64
    skew 5
    offset 8448
    boottrk 0
    os 2.2
    end

    # libdsk data below
    [exi1]
    description = EXI1 Exidy Sorcerer - SSDD 48 tpi 5.25" - 256 x 16
    cylinders = 40
    heads = 1
    secsize = 256
    sectors = 16
    secbase = 1
    datarate = DD

    # Exidy Sorcerer - SS/DD, ie: 8" - 128 x 26
    # 77 tracks, 1 sides, 16 sectors/track, 256 bytes/sector
    # Bytes on the media = 1*77*16*256 = 315392
    #
    # EXI2 Exidy Sorcerer - SSDD 8" - 256 x 16
    diskdef exi2
    seclen 256
    tracks 77
    sectrk 16
    blocksize 2048
    maxdir 64
    # datarate DD #= Density SD, DD, HD, or ED
    # fm NO #= Format YES = FM, or NO = MFM
    datarate HD
    fm YES
    skew 5
    # offset 8192 # 0x2000 = 8192
    boottrk 2
    os 2.2
    end

    # libdsk data below
    [exi2]
    description = EXI2 Exidy Sorcerer - SSDD 8" - 256 x 16
    cylinders = 77
    heads = 1
    secsize = 256
    sectors = 16
    secbase = 1
    datarate = HD

    If you have an Image file (.TD0, .IMD) and want the Directory list or files, we can easily access the files. There are 4 Emulator
    Images (with an extra 256 byte header) that I'd managed to access all the files, and have them zipped.

    You can also try PIP to see if it can be patched to make the transfers.

    If you need help with cpmtools send me a PM.

    The JSorcerer Stand alone emulator has 4 CP/M images associated, that has a lot of files.
    http://www.liaquay.co.uk/

    Included with this Emulator are four Disk Images that were created SPECIAL for the Emulator. The
    disk files are for the CP/M Exidy Sorcerer and have a 13 byte HEADER that is placed before each
    Sector's Data (256 Bytes). The next Byte is a checksum of the 269 bytes, and then the actual
    256 byte Sector's Data.

    /*
    * 13 byte HEADER at the beginning of each 256 byte sector that has the following format:
    *
    * First byte = hex FF
    * second byte = cylinder number, hex 00-4F
    * third byte = sector number, hex 0-F
    * fourth through thirteenth bytes = 0
    * Followed by 256 bytes of sector data
    * Followed by 1 byte of arithmetic checksum of the whole 13+256 bytes
    * ...repeat until done...
    *
    * 00000000 FF 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 CD A2 E1 ................
    * 00000010 FD F9 CD 82 04 01 00 01 2A FA 04 EB D5 C5 CD 3B ........*......;
    * 00000020 04 C1 D1 20 ED 04 78 FE 10 20 0E 06 00 79 B7 20 ... ..x.. ...y.
    *
    * Data at 0x000D = 0xCD is the first of the 256 bytes of RAW data.
    * Remember to toss the checksum byte too.

    I've been working on this for a month now and you've reminded me I need to get XMODEM running now that I've got the I/O routines working in other programs. Dave Dunfield's CPT transfer utility puts a CP/M disk image onto a PC via the RS232 port assuming you have a 1.1+ monitor installed. I have another image transfer program working (Mike Douglas' FLOP2PC) but I'm not sure if its output is correct yet.

    OK, I've got there

    The burning question is (and I maybe should know this from other postings) but what have you currently got working? I know Dave has got your machine going again and you have a lot of disks, but what versions of CP/M have you got and do any of those disks have the CP/M LOAD utility on them? Things will be much easier if they do.
