I think I may have a plastic-plated-with-chrome one somewhere. The real metal ones were pretty clunky--I have some DB hoods like that.

The original is metal so the replacement has to be.

The new TE ones don't have the "AMP" logo, but there are some NOS ones on eBay that do.
I don't see the point, but then I'm not a collector.
