    Some of the more recent Western Digital external USB drives solve that problem by placing the USB connection on the hard drives circuit board so the drive no longer has a SATA port. No more buying WD external drives, breaking the case, and getting an internal drive for cheap.

    All the ones I've broken open are SATA-N (or is it SATA-II?). The bridge is screwed to the hard drive. So they completely solved that part on these; there's no way that SATA connector is coming loose. But of course that means more vibration transfer...
