    Default 6516 >>> c64

    I bought a copy of Commodore Format many years ago. The feature article described replacing the 6510 with a 6516 or similar. Does anyone know which issue I'm referring to? I scanned the issues on archive.org and I didn't recognize any.

    The article was originally published in the German magazine 64R and may have been later published in Commodore Format I am not sure. It detailed how to replace the 6510 with a 65C02 (and the design is very easily adapted to the 65c816).

    Neither the 6502 nor the 65816 have the I/O ports and logic that were added to the 6510 by Commodore, so you have to build a daughter board with a 6522 VIA or similar to add the ports externally.
