    Drive 0 - Disk 1 : 21 read error 1 0
    Drive 0 - Disk 2 : 21 read error 1 0
Drive 1 has a broken closing mechanism. trying to close it manually by keeping the things down is not really possible.
So i guess i have to repair that first or we concentrate on drive 0

When the drive is powered off, try to move the head manually (gently) around the middle of its path, then power on and try a format, does the head go backwards and rattles a bit on the stopper?
Having two drives usually gives a lot of informations, since you can swap them, exclude or confirm analog board problems etc...
However, from now on, troubleshooting really needs some test equipment (osciloscope greatly helps), so what do you have there?

The head moves back correctly. As testing equipment, i only have a multimeter. For repairs, i have a soldering iron

It won't be easy to check everything. Try to have at least both drives working, so you can try swapping them.

Before anything, clean the drive heads with Isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab.

Have you checked the power up led flash diagnostic codes as described in the service manual?

the following is from page 5.
    power up diagnostic flash code.jpg

Also check the troubleshooting guide at page 6

Here is a link to the service manual

What does your power up flash code say?

Does any of the items in the troubleshooting guide at page 6 apply to you?

Finally check the last 3 pages.

    I hope this helps.
