Thread: PDP-8 OS/8 file system questions

Default PDP-8 OS/8 file system questions

I've wondered about the type of file system that is supported with OS/8. I've done some searching and can't find much except that a file is stored in a single extent. Does that mean that blocks of a device are read and each block has some sort of header on it with the filename and how many blocks it takes up, etc.

The OS8 Software Support Manual on bitsavers: http://www.bitsavers.org/pdf/dec/pdp...OS8_v3ssup.pdf Appendix A tells all.
